meet the chief executive officer
The company’s CEO is Dr Tony Scoleri. He brings in a wealth of experience having worked for a decade in academia, 13 years in the Australian Government within several divisions at the Defence Science and Technology (DST) Group and more recently in private industry.
During his time at DST, Dr Scoleri led key developments in the areas of ground object tracking, airborne and geospatial target metrology and target recognition, sensor fusion for resilient intelligence mission data, soft biometrics for person identification across disjoint camera networks. In his last DST role, Dr Scoleri was the Australian manager supporting research for the situation awareness and threat warning system in the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter aircraft.
He successfully set up multiple research agreements with academia and connected his programs with many local, interstate and international industry partners as well as NATO and US Government.
In early 2020, Dr Scoleri joined DEWC Systems as Chief Technology Officer where he contributed to the development of Australia’s first private space rocket and the Miniature Orbital Electronic Warfare Sensor System (MOESS).
Dr Scoleri graduated with a PhD in pure mathematics and computer vision from The University of Adelaide and published over 60 academic publications and reports with the following notable awards:
→ D. Griffiths, T. Scoleri, R.S.A. Brinkworth and A. Finn, ‘Pixel-wise infrared tone remapping for rapid adaptation to high dynamic range variations’, Proc. SPIE Security & Defence conference, Electro-Optical and Infrared Systems: Technology and Applications XVI, 111590V, France, Sep 2019. Invited Paper.
→ D. Griffiths, T. Scoleri, R.S.A. Brinkworth and A. Finn, ‘A novel bio-inspired filtering technique for persistent detection of vessels despite adverse maritime visibility conditions’, Safeguarding Australia Summit, Mar 2019. Awarded prize for emerging technological innovation.
